How to choose: Are you explaining a sequence of effects, or a result produced jointly by multiple causes?

Core distinction

Use CLF059 for a causal chain where Y is an intermediate mechanism between X and Z. Use CLF060 when Y and Z are parallel contributing factors that jointly produce X; neither is merely an intermediate step in the other.
