Collect for reuse, not because a sentence looks sophisticated
When you meet a useful sentence, record enough context to remember what it was doing. Then ask whether there is a Frame or Move worth practising. A rare idiom that you will never say may be interesting but is not automatically a good training item.
Meaning-focused encounters with formulaic language are relevant research context for this approach. Frequency and repetition also matter, but a personal set can be selective about what deserves deliberate attention.
Annotate one target, not the entire source text
Keep the original sentence intact and attach only the Mark or construction span needed for your learning target. If the item contains three unrelated lessons, either choose one or split them into separate passes. Your collection should not become a private treebank unless building a treebank is actually your hobby.
Add the reusable Frame and a short note about the Move. That is enough structure for most study sessions.
Add two variations before the item is considered useful
Write or say at least two new examples with the same Frame. One can stay close to the source; the other should move into a different context. This immediately exposes Frames that looked reusable only because the original sentence was unusually convenient.
Keep variations natural rather than mechanically swapping nouns. If you are unsure about correctness, verify the sentence before promoting it into a reviewed personal example.
Revisit the set as prompts, not as a gallery
On later days, show yourself the meaning, Move or partially hidden Frame and try to produce before revealing the annotated sentence. This changes the collection from an archive into a retrieval surface.
Small sets are allowed to stay small. Ten sentences you can reconstruct and reuse may be more valuable than five hundred saved highlights that you have not opened since the evening you enthusiastically collected them.
