01 · Pattern
The strongest concern on the other side is that [X].
Begin by stating the strongest reasonable objection to your own position.
Open canonical object02 · Pattern
Their position is [X], but the underlying interest may be [Y].
Translate the stated position into the underlying interest it may be protecting.
Open canonical object03 · Pattern
We may agree on [X] and still disagree on how much weight to give [Y].
Check whether the dispute is about evidence or about how much weight each side gives a priority or value.
Open canonical object04 · Pattern
A more neutral way to state the disagreement is that [X] prioritises [Y], while [Z] prioritises [W].
Rephrase the conflict neutrally as a difference in priorities rather than blame.
Open canonical object05 · Pattern
From [X]'s perspective, [Y] is reasonable if [Z].
Evaluate the choice from the other actor's perspective using that actor's constraints and incentives.
